CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Furniture Manufacturers Credit Assn. held its fall education conference last month, its first event since May 2019, marking its 60th anniversary. The FMCA conference was held in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The event included motivational and educational presentations as well as a roundtable discussions on credit issues submitted by attendees.
The FMCA conference included an awards presentation, presenting Heritage Awards, Special Service recognition, Credit Manager of the Year, Past President’s Award and two Hall of Fame inductees.
FMCA Heritage Award recipients were: Ashley Furniture, Baker Interiors Group, Bassett Furniture, Bernhardt Furniture, Best Chairs, Caracole, Home Meridian International, La-Z-Boy, Hooker Furniture, Howard Miller/ Hekman, Leather Italia USA, Lee Inds., Legacy Classic Furniture, Lexington Home Brands, Magnussen Home, Progressive Furniture, Rosenthal & Rosenthal, Rowe Fine Furniture, Tempur+Sealy, Sherrill Furniture, Universal Furniture, Vanguard Furniture, Vaughn-Bassett Furniture, Wells Fargo and Whitewood Inds.
Bennie Corbett, credit manager for Universal Furniture, was recognized with the Special Service recognition for serving as the credit interchange chairperson for seven years. Also, Matt Melcher, director of credit for Sherrill Furniture, was honored as Credit Manager of the Year.
In addition, Brian Spencer, director of credit for Home Meridian International, was presented the Past Presidents Plaque and ring with two diamonds representing the two years that he served as FMCA board of directors president in 2019 and 2020.
The FMCA conference also inducted two members to its Hall of Fame, honoring extraordinary service. Wendy Tester, credit manager for Lee Inds., and Glenn Hendren, manager of credit services for Legacy Classic, were added as the 16th and 17th inductees. Both have served on the FMCA board of directors for more than 10 years and have served as president and chairperson for at least two of those years. They have also served in various officer roles and chaired various committees for the association.
Following the awards presentations, the conference wrapped up with a Credit Interchange session.
